First Annual Very Merry Cookie Crawl

The Date of The Very Merry Cookie Crawl has changed. Join us on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 1-6 p.m. Click here for more details.

Join ACC-SANE for its First Annual Very Merry Cookie Crawl on December 15, 2019 in Downtown Watkinsville. A fun family event that benefits local businesses, guests of the tree lighting/parade, and ACC Sane.

For a $20 donation to ACC-SANE, crawlers receive a map and a cookie container, which participating businesses/tents in Downtown Watkinsville will fill with cookies for free from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 15.

The cookie crawl coincides with the Christmas on Main Street Watkinsville Parade and Tree Lighting. The annual parade down Main Street will begin at 3 p.m. and be followed by the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on the steps of the Oconee County Courthouse, so make sure to grab your cookie containers early so you’ll have sweet treats to snack on during the parade, or the whole family can enjoy the cookie crawl after the parade while waiting for the tree lighting!

LIMITED SUPPLY – only 250 cookie containers will be sold. Crawlers may purchase and pick-up their cookie container at the ACC-SANE tent in the Chops & Hops parking lot, located at  2 South Main St. #112, Watkinsville, GA 30677.

A map of participating businesses will be included with your cookie container. For more information contact Danielle at

Danielle Benson is the chair of this event. She is a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies, (so is her husband, Reese, but don’t tell anyone about that). During a 2018 Hallmark Christmas Movie binge, one movie really inspired Danielle, “Christmas Joy.” This movie follows the same story line as most Hallmark Christmas movies … girl resists love of local boy, boy fights to win girl’s love, girl and boy make a memory by solving a problem, girl and boy have a misunderstanding and almost lose each other, girl and boy end up together at the end. But there was a component of this movie that fascinated Danielle, A Christmas Cookie Crawl! She knew she had to bring that event and hopefully a new family tradition to the Athens area. Danielle is a local business owner and loves to volunteer on local non-profit boards to serve her community. As a part of her board service she’s led some large fundraising events and she knew she could make a Christmas Cookie Crawl a new, exciting, and successful event for a local nonprofit. In December of 2018, shortly after Danielle watched Christmas Joy, Michelle Dickens reached out to her and invited her to join the Board of ACC-SANE. Danielle immediately accepted and pitched the idea of a Cookie Crawl, and the rest is sugar, flour, and chocolate chip coated history.
