Behind every case of sexual or physical assault is a person whose life has been irrevocably changed. The first responders, investigators, forensic nurse examiners, victim advocates, and attorneys who support and interact with survivors in different ways, have the opportunity to work together to positively impact a victim’s post-assault experience and improve healing and recovery.

Victims of sexual and physical violence in Morgan County currently must travel to Athens, Milledgeville, or Macon to receive advocacy support and forensic medical services. This places an unnecessary burden on victims and creates a barrier to the care that they need and have the right to under Georgia law. SANE, Inc. provides victim forensic medical examinations, evidence collection, court testimony, and advocacy related to the sexual and physical assault of children and adults. We have been serving Northeast Georgia since 1995 and are committed to improving access to care in our community.

Our goal is to achieve a coordinated community response in Morgan County by opening a Family Protection Center. At the new center, we hope to provide forensic medical exams, forensic interviews, advocacy, and therapeutic services to survivors of sexual and physical assault.
