Interested in joining our team or becoming a sexual assault nurse examiner?

SANE provides immediate crisis intervention, confidential emotional support, and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones. We are part of a coordinated response team that facilitates medical and legal services, while also providing trauma care. As part of their responsibility, SANE nurses evaluate, file, and preserve evidence that may be used for the legal aspect of a case. The work that SANE nurses do is crucial to properly serve survivors of sexual assault.

Become an eligible medical provider

Practice as a licensed RN, NP, or PA, for a minimum of 6 months to be eligible for training.

Complete S.A.N.E. training

ACC-SANE, Inc. will send eligible providers through a 40 hour didactic Basic SANE training course and will provide support in completing your clinical preceptorship requirements.

Practice as a S.A.N.E.

ACC-SANE, Inc. forensic medical examiners are required to provide a minimum of 40 hours availability to the call schedule each month. Examiners are compensated for their call time and exam pay.

Certification

After completing SANE training, ACC-SANE, Inc. will assist participating examiners in sitting for their certification. SANE-A and SANE-P certification exams are held twice a year during the month of April and September.

SANE, Inc. performs forensic medical exams for adults or children who experience sexual assault or abuse. Our specially trained nurses and advocates work one-on-one with the men, women, and children we serve in a 10-county region, to ensure they get the medical assistance and aftercare support they need.
